What could we do to celebrate St George's Day? Drink proper English beer? Cider? Really, it ought to be tea. We could watch football, cricket, or rugby. We could read Shakespeare, since it's his birthday today, as well:
This royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
Richard II, 2.1
I'll have you know I have been loyally drinking tea all day. And the cats have been pretending to be dragons. Well, they've been sleeping on what they perceive to be treasure anyway (aka my jumper that they pulled off the back of my chair).
ReplyDeleteVery patriotic! The Demon Puppy does a fairly good dragon impression too, although her treasure consists of chewed-up rubber balls and a teddy bear with no legs.
