Back in the revisions cave

An agent has requested the full of the Untied Kingdom. In the middle of organising a seventy-six trombone parade, the thought occurred to me that I might want to take a look at it first, before I send it off. At all hundred and fifteen thousand words of it. Fifteen thousand of which clearly need to be cut.

It needs quite a spit and polish. As a schoolfriend once put it, this is major Pledge time.

I may be gone some time.

    Cutting is easy (she says in the blithe confidence that it isn't my ms). Just delete two unnecessary adverbs on every page. Pretty soon they all look surplus to requirements and you've reached the desired wordcount. Of course, the result is often quite dull...

  3. Yes Jan, but that'd only cut about, oh, a twentieth of what I need to delete.

    But it's amazing how much babble I can get rid of. It seems I type like I talk...
